4/15/2019 7 Comments The Dark Wood, by Sydney MannI don't even know where to start with this. The story flows at just the right pace, you get to know the character's and their thought and dilemmas steadily without it being shoved down your throat. You really get to know the characters, the dialogue flows effortlessly. The plot's engaging, and the author doesn't tease the reader with forbidden knowlege. On another level, even if the story was terrible, I still would have finished it because of how beautifully the words were laid down. I wish I could give this six stars!

The author puts you in the room for the terror, action, and emotions that the characters go through. The story is gripping, the character development is great, and the tension it builds is almost unbearable but in a good way. I'll be buying the sequel the DAY it comes out!
This is a real quick read, but it's worth it! The author does a great job making the reader care about the people in this post-apocalyptic tale, to the point where I cared more about the side characters because the main character cared more about them than he did himself. It's appropriately gruesome for the genre, and it's not overdone, and while there wasn't a twist ending, I wasn't about to accurately predict what was going to happen at the end.
